The Durham Eagles play in the Consolidated Football Federation of the National Pop Warner organization. Pop Warner rules stipulate grade, age and weight limits for each division.
Proof of satisfactory progress in school is required. A 2.0/70% or the equivalent shall be the minimum grade point average acceptable to participate. In cases of doubt or conflict of opinion, a written statement by the school administration shall be deemed final. For more information please visit : Scholastic Requirements
Each player is weighed to determine eligibility prior to each game. The certification weight limit is the maximum weight of the player wearing all equipment except the player's helmet. Pop Warner rules allow for up to seven pounds of equipment to be included at weigh-in. For example, even though the Mitey-Mite weight limit is 85 lbs. (at the beginning of the season), the player is given an additional 7-pound allowance for his equipment and must weigh-in at no more than 92 lbs. If a player is over the certification weight limit, then the player is given time to adjust (bathroom, dry t-shirt, lighter cleats/shoes...). The player is then given a second and final weighing.
The published certification weight limits are the limits for the first game of the season. The players are then given one extra pound per week throughout the season to accomodate for player growth. For more information please see : Age & Weight Requirements
